Human Capital and The Workplace
How has corporate diversity changed over the past twenty years?
Early diversity programs and initiatives were focused on how we develop a workplace/management team that values differences in people, mainly those differences associated wth race and gender. As diversity practitioners and corporate leaders began to understand that diversity could not be so narrowly defined, we started to use terms like business imperative and inclusion. Today we understand that not only are people different in a whole host of ways that are visible, but our focus has turned to an area of what is defined as human capital. Diversity now includes how we communicate, develop cultures in the workplace, and build effective teams and leaders capable of processing solutions to human and workplace issues. Today we are looking for a word to replace diversity!
